We call it the “Eastern Shirt”—a playful nod to the Western shirts worn by American cowboys, reimagined by us here in Japan. With curved shoulder yokes and flap pockets, this unisex shirt brings a light-hearted charm to everyday dressing.
The fabric is Indian khadi, spun and woven with care in village homes across India. Even with its natural irregularities and flecks of cotton, we find its beauty undeniable. The soft, airy texture—born from human hands and the atmosphere itself—is a character that modern machinery simply cannot replicate. It's a texture we deeply love.
For this piece, we used slightly thicker single-ply yarn than usual, adding body to the fabric. Each print features a single flower blooming in its own room, painted in free, vivid strokes as if by a young child moving a brush with joy. Stars and dots are scattered throughout, bringing a sense of wonder to this vibrant, imaginative pattern. Rooted in Japanese craftsmanship, and shaped by 45R’s quiet creativity, this shirt blends playful storytelling with the warmth of natural materials.
