A 45R T-SHIRT

A 45R T-SHIRT

Philosophy

“To create clothes that feel good, and to have them worn with joy.”

Our thinking is simple. We carefully select our raw materials, study the face of the fabric, and listen closely to its voice. Bringing out its best qualities is the foundation of our craftsmanship. A T-shirt sits closest to the skin, so there is no room for compromise. From the yarn to the fabric, we approach every stage with patience and care.

Understanding Cotton

Different lands, different cotton.

Among cotton grown in more than 90 countries around the world, we choose the fiber best suited for each T-shirt. Zimbabwe cotton, grown under strong African sunlight and harvested by hand, offers long fibers, firmness, resilience, and a dry touch. Australian cotton, nurtured in a gentle natural environment, has a clean and balanced character. Supima, cultivated in dry air and intense light, brings softness, fullness, and a quiet luster. We consider the climate and soil behind each fiber and combine them so that their best qualities come forward.

It Begins with Yarn

A T-shirt is decided at the yarn stage.

The selected cotton is spun on specially adjusted machines. We intentionally create yarn with slight irregularities in thickness. Within a single thread, thicker and thinner sections coexist, and this unevenness gives the fabric its texture. The expression of a T-shirt is determined long before it takes shape. We design the yarn while imagining how it will age after years of washing and wear.

Densely Knit Jersey

The fabric stands, almost smiling.

We knit this yarn tightly into a dense jersey fabric. The surface becomes clearly defined, with visible texture and dimension. It does not cling to the skin but holds a layer of air. Soft to the touch, yet firm at its core.

At 45R, we aim for subtle unevenness on both the face and the reverse of our T-shirts—never flat, never uniform. The gentle irregularity gives the fabric life and breath.

This delicate tension—between suppleness and strength—is what allows the fabric to endure without losing its character.

Texture on the face.

Texture on the reverse. Texture lives on both sides.

Washed Again and Again

Always fresh.

Even after repeated washing and drying under the sun, the T-shirt retains the freshness of just-picked fruit. It does not grow stiff or tired. Instead, it settles naturally against the body. We choose the yarn and determine the knit with washing in mind. Everyday laundering is part of the design.

Thoughtful Construction

Kindness in what you cannot see.

We use original cotton sewing threads that blend naturally with the fabric. Our overlock machines have been refined so that seam allowances on the inside are kept as short as possible. Even fabric trimmed during cutting is reused as reinforcement at the back of the neck. Because this is a garment worn every day, we treat even the unseen details with care and durability.

Putting the wearer first.

We do not attach care labels. Instead, the information is printed directly onto the inside of the fabric. Even the slightest discomfort at the neckline is something we want to avoid. The lettering was originally handwritten and assembled one character at a time. Until the very end, we keep the warmth of the human hand.

A T-Shirt That Grows

Unchanged, even ten years later.

Even as the color softens and the collar relaxes, the T-shirt does not lose its spirit. Like the person who wears it, it deepens in character over time. Strong enough to be worn for more than a decade without concern—that is the standard we set for ourselves. And we will continue, carefully and sincerely, to make T-shirts.
