At 45R, our Japanese craftsmanship is guided by a deep appreciation for materials. We carefully preserve fabric remnants left behind during the cutting process, honoring the spirit of “mottainai”—a philosophy of not letting anything go to waste.

Linen, with its light and airy texture, tends to shift easily, so we arrange each piece gently to keep its shape intact. Scraps of various forms are trimmed into perfect squares and then thoughtfully stitched together, one by one. This piece is the culmination of Madras check—India’s traditional plaid—reimagined through the hands of Japanese artisans.
