The stamp of the “Burumaru Rikishi” on the inside is proof that this is authentic selvage denim, woven on a true gravity loom. The signature R embroidery has been plant-dyed in Edo Kobicha—a rich, earthy brown once said to be as alluring as a flirtatious glance. Over time, it will fade gently along with the denim.

This denim, known as Futatabi 6.5, is woven from sturdy Zimbabwe cotton with a distinctly uneven texture. You can feel its crisp structure and bold irregularities throughout. Rather than lines, the stitching emphasizes individual points—each one strong and deliberate. The deep fades and contrast that develop with wear are part of what make this piece a true expression of 45R’s Japanese craftsmanship.
