We call the fabric “Cook Serge,” drawing on the image of old European chef uniforms, woven into a cotton twill reminiscent of denim. Though modest in appearance, Cook Serge is a sturdy, textured fabric with a natural irregularity that speaks to the quiet beauty of Japanese craftsmanship.

The serge is woven with original indigo and slub yarns, creating a richly layered pattern with a wave-like texture. Over time, the indigo will gently fade, allowing the piece to develop character—an evolving expression of 45R's commitment to thoughtful design.
