True Madras Check
For the first time at 45R, we created a true Madras check in the original sense—woven in Chennai from 100% Indian cotton, with yarn-dyed colors and an uneven check pattern. We have made many Madras-inspired fabrics before, but this is our first authentic Madras check.

Handspun, Handwoven, Plant-Dyed
At 45R, we took it a step further with handspun yarn, handweaving, and plant-based dyes drawn from flora native to Chennai. The soft bleeding of color, subtle distortion in the checks, and natural variation from piece to piece are all part of its beauty—signs of a fabric shaped by water, air, craft, and the individuality of the makers.
