The origins of our “super gauze” trace back to September 2000, when 45R opened its first store in New York. Our gauze T-shirts quickly gained attention for their distinctive feel, marking the beginning of what we now call chō-gauze.

Since then, this Supima organic super gauze has been refined over many years. It offers the lightness of airiness that lets the breeze through, paired with the warmth of trapped air. Smooth to the touch with an elegant sheen, it’s often described as the cashmere of cotton—a quiet expression of Japanese craftsmanship, and a textile achievement unique to 45R.
