Indigo Happi Coats

In Japan, the festive garment synonymous with cultural celebrations is the happi coat. Our happi coats were first tailored over a decade ago as the official attire for revelers at the 祭 - Matsuri (festival) event held at our Tokyo flagship store, Badou-R. Designed to elevate the spirit of the festival, these garments have since become emblematic of the brand's heritage.

Worn at various 45R events such as the 楽市着座 - Rakuichi Chakuza in Kohoku, Indigo Friday, and the Denim Matsuri, these coats have been donned and laundered repeatedly over the years, becoming cherished heirlooms of our collective brand experience.

Their unique textures are marked by exposed seam allowances, puckering at the cuffs and hems, and collars faded to a distinguished white through wear.

The original happi bore the Badou-R logo on its back, ingeniously incorporating the auspicious left knight of shogi into the letter "R." Today's version features a dynamic rendition of the "R" mon, also used on the eaves tiles of our main store, symbolizing both our heritage and our forward-looking ethos.
These coats do more than just clothe; they boost the morale of our team, carrying the emblem of our brand and communicating our identity to customers with pride. As such, they are more than mere attire—they are a declaration of our spirit and commitment to tradition.
